On January 30th, the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict launched its latest study: Getting it Done and Doing it Right: A Global Study on the United Nations-led Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism on Children and Armed Conflict (January 2008). Each report includes extensive, detailed and practicable recommendations that address challenges and provide ways forward in each of these areas. It is a statutory document which, together with the audited accounts, must be filed at Companies House and the Charities’ Commission on an annual basis. The Forced Migration Online research guide on
Iraq has been updated to reflect rising levels of displacement and other recent developments. Since 2003, UNHCR estimates that at least 2 million Iraqis have left Iraq and a further 1 million have been displaced inside the country. One in eight Iraqis has been forcibly uprooted, and according to UNHCR estimates, some 40,000 to 60,000 are leaving their homes on a monthly basis. There are an estimated 1.4 million Iraqis seeking refuge in Syria and a further 750,000 in Jordan. This report, published by the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, aims to draw a complex picture of how substantive quality standards of researching and assessing COI appear in the form of legal requirements in the EU, either as binding legal provisions or guiding judicial practice. The report identifies "good legislative practices" concerning COI in the 27 member states and presents what the EU asylum directives require in this respect.

This document is the syllabus for "The Refugee Law Reader", an on-line 'living' casebook (www.refugeelawreader.org). It is the fourth edition of the Reader, which is published by the Hungarian Helsinki Committee. The Refugee Law Reader is a collaborative project among experts in the field that offers a fully developed course curriculum and access to over 10,000 pages of legal instruments, documents and specialist commentary.

The Refugee Law Reader has been designed to easily adapt to the wide range of teaching and research needs of professionals. This booklet aims to facilitate navigation within the web site and to assist in seeing the structure of the curriculum as a whole. It also seeks to assist users with the selective adaptation of the course structure and access to the extensive legal material available in The Reader.

The Country Briefing Folders contain general background information,
